Morrow County Health DistrictMorrow County Health District was established in 1994 by the
county's voters to ensure continued support of medical services
in the area. The health district is comprised of a hospital and
medical clinic in Heppner, a medical clinic in Irrigon, and home
health, hospice and emergency medical services throughout the county.
The district also subsidizes Columbia River Community Health Services
in Boardman.
Leading day to day operations are Administrator Victor Vander Does and Chief
Financial Officer Nicole Mahoney. NewsMorrow County Health District is in the early stages of a renovation to the south end of Pioneer Memorial Hospital to add up to 12 long term care (nursing home) beds. This is important news, as after Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home closed in November 2003 local residents were required to leave the area for an intermediate level of care. The architectural firm for the project was recently selected and plans are moving forward, says Administrator Victor Vander Does. The estimated cost of the renovation is $770,000. Pioneer Memorial Hospital Foundation has committed $20,000 to the project and fundraising activities are being planned by the district. For more information visit Giving Opportunities.
